8- vampire weekend - modern vampires of the city
Ao terceiro disco arriscam ser diferentes, sem perder a marca. Mais uma coleção de boas canções e a certeza de uma banda.

Projecto ambicioso, à procura de canções com pano de fundo electrónico. Companheiros de pesquisa presentes : Ada, Apparat, Matthew Dear, entre outros. Uma obra conseguida.
10- arctic monkeys - am
- queens of the stone age - like clockwork
Não consegui ficar só com um. Dois albuns rock, de duas grandes bandas.
E depois Burial. Rival Dealer é só um ep, mas já chega. São 28 minutos intensos como só Burial parece ser capaz de fazer. Sempre em mudança mas sempre Burial, ninguém mais aqui se chega.

Kanye West porque mesmo aparecendo no final do ano, conquistou automaticamente os meus ouvidos. Uma obra que será ponto de comparação daqui para a frente. Pena para James Murphy que fez outra obra-prima como Lcd Soundsystem, mas entre um e outro e a forçosa escolha, pendi para uma obra mais visionaria, mais arriscada, que rompe mais com a obra anterior e que claramente é o melhor trabalho de Kanye, o que não posso dizer do ultimo opus de Murphy.

2000 - 2009 pt 2
Os dez mais da década são então, para mim, estes :
10 - Radiohead - Amnesiac - 2001
Devia ter saido logo junto com 'Kid A' e juntos seriam de longe a melhor obra dos Radiohead. Uma das bandas da decada, para muitos a melhor, entraram na decada empurrados pelo sucesso comercial e critico de 'Ok Computer' e viraram as regras do avesso ao arriscarem uma mudança radical nas suas cordenadas abraçando a electronica de bleeps e cuts. 'Dollars and Cents' continua a ser das minhas preferidas.
09 - Animal Collective - Merryweather Post Pavillion - 2009
Começaram em 2000 e ainda não abrandaram. 8 Albuns e mais uns quantos eps, um deles a terminar 2009, com algum material a fazer crer que o melhor deles esta ainda para vir. Para já este é o melhor deles e é muito bom.
08 - Primal Scream - Xtrmntr - 2000
Quando 'Xtrmntr' foi lançado já tinham 15 anos de carreira e nove anos tinham passado sobre a obra-prima 'Screamadelica'. Decidem então embarcar numa nova viragem de som, que antecipa grande parte do que a febre electro que se seguiu na decada andou a tentar fazer sem o conseguir com resultados tão bons. Uma banda de culto.
07 - Lcd Soundsystem - Sound Of Silver - 2007
James Murphy continua a sua aventura pelos suspeitos sons disco e faz uma obra magnifica. Contem 'All My Friends', uma faixa intemporal, que sozinha merecia a chamada ao top.
06 - Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not - 2006
Uma grande surpresa que se tem revelado uma certeza o talento de Alex Turner para a escrita de canções. Não é que nunca mais tenha chegado a este nivel mas a surpresa de ouvir 'I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor' , 'Fake Tales of San Francisco' ou a sublime 'A Certain Romance' não se consegue repetir. Um talento a seguir ja em Fevereiro no Coliseu.
05 - The Streets - Original Pirate Material - 2002
Mike Skinner, cerebro do projecto gosta de 'roach a spliff watching tv', jogar playstation, é um miudo de cidade, que a observa e tenta perceber. Um como eu em 2002. Um como muitos.
Mas este fez esta peça, um dos mais honestos e directos manifestos sobre a vida actual. Um album que pega nos sons urbanos ingleses e os leva para outros niveis. Chamaram-lhe erradamente grime, como antes trip-hop aos Massive Attack, Tricky ou Portishead. É apenas grande musica.
04 - Dizzee Rascal - Boy In Da Corner - 2003
Este sim, um dos porta-estandartes do movimento grime ingles, mas um que joga apenas com as suas regras como o mostram as recentes opções de fazer musicas para pistas de dança, algo impensavel para quem ouvia este album furioso em que Dizzee se revela o mc mais creativo da decada cuspindo em todas as direcções. Feito com 18 anos e com metodos não muito acima do rudimentar consegue ser totalmento inventivo tambem em termos sonoros, antecipando por exemplo parte do som dubstep ou das misturas sonoras operadas por gente como M.I.A., Diplo, Switch ou em Portugal os Buraka Som Sistema ou Macacos do Chines.
03 - Lcd Soundsystem - Lcd Soundsystem - 2005
Não será melhor obra que 'Sound of Silver' em termos de união, mas o facto de ter saido primeiro e de conter um 2ºcd que continha os singles anteriores como' Losing My Edge' ou 'Yeah' juntando--as a 'Tribulations' ou 'On Repeat' do album propriamente dito ditou a minha escolha. Ainda espero muito deste senhor.
02 - Radiohead - Kid A - 2000
Valido tudo o que disse para 'Amnesiac' para esta obra ambiciosa. Tudo e ainda que este saiu um ano antes e foi surprendente ouvir logo a abrir 'Everything in it's Right Place' e verificar que tudo estava afinal mudado no mundo de Tom Yorke e companhia.
Além disso e muito mais há 'Idioteque' talvez a melhor maneira de ainda hoje ilustrar esta decada.

O facto de ter sido o album que mais vezes ouvi na decada contribuiu.
Ter pouco mais de meia hora e nenhum ponto baixo tambem.
Tiradas de Julian Casablancas como ' You say you wanna stand by myside/darling your head's not right' tambem.
Ser rock do melhor de sempre, e ter-me voltado a fazer querer ouvir rock tambem.
Te-los visto ao vivo e constatar que são fantasticos tambem.
Mas principalmente foram 'Modern Age', 'Barely Legal', 'Someday', 'Last Nite', 'Hard to Explain' ou 'Take It or Leave It'.
Até a certeza que nunca serão assim tão bons assim outra vez. Depois de 'This Is It' como de outros albuns aqui a musica mudou, evoluiu. Mesmo que o som não traga nada de muito novo, como é o caso, quando a perfeição é atingida o nivel de exigência de todos aumenta e isso só pode ser bom.
Um daqueles para levar para a ilha deserta...
Feliz 2010 a todos os bons meninos.

2000 - 2009 pt 1
Fecha-se a porta a mais uma decada no dia de hoje. Para acabar o ano, o ultimo post com uma lista dos meus discos da decada. 50 para respeitar as regras que eu proprio criei quando desafiei o Tiago Fragata a fazer a sua lista para a Estante (www.estantevazia.blogspot.com). Agradeço tambem ao Marco e ao Nuno por terem aderido a iniciativa. Tenho orgulho de estar na Estante!
50 discos parecem muito, mas em dez anos apaixonamo-nos por muitos mais. De fora da minha lista ficam varios nomes que respeito muito. Alguns porque não dão assim tanta importancia ao formato album (Villalobos ou Tiga ou Skream por exemplo), outros por esquecimento...Mas fiz os possiveis para que não fossem muitos os que ficaram esquecidos...e se me lembrar farei aqui o publico 'mea culpa'.
Aqui vão, do 50 para o 11, que ao top 10 quero fazer comentarios individuais...Desculpem, mas tinha que explicar as minhas decisões, tanto trabalho me deram. A parte boa é que voltei a ouvir varios albuns que ja não ouvia ha algum tempo...

Em Cheio!
Eu tinha esperanças que haveria justiça e a Pitchfork não falhou. 'My Girls' dos Animal Collective ficou com a musica do ano deste 2009.

"My Girls", the catchy, gloriously harmonized highlight of Merriweather Post Pavilion, is all heart-- arguably the most earnest expression of basic human want recorded in 2009. Panda Bear's promise to provide a proper house for his wife and young daughter, in the wake of his father's death-- "But to provide for mine who ask, I will, with heart, on my father's grave," he pledges-- yielded a blissful, near-ecstatic song that practically requires participation, be it hollering along (try to keep yourself from yelling a synchronized "ooooh!" after the chorus) or shimmying in your subway seat. Panda Bear and Avey Tare's harmonies here are warmer (and groovier) than most anywhere else in the band's catalogue, and the electronics are gentle and buoyant; in some ways, "My Girls" feels like a life preserver for people tottering on the precipice of adulthood. Panda Bear might be apologetic about his craving ("I don't mean to seem like I care about material things," he hedges), but "My Girls" is ultimately a celebration of the simplification-- of desire, of priorities-- that comes with growing up. --Amanda Petrusich

Olha, Mais Listas!
Começam agora a aparecer os tops de 2009. A Pitchfork, como sempre é exaustiva. Top dos 50 albuns e das 100! musicas. A conhecer entre hoje segunda e sexta. Hoje apenas as musicas do 100 ao 51. 51 para Antony, antes deles Health, Bat For Lashes, Atlas Sound ou XX que devem voltar a aparecer mais para cima. Sexta então o final do top de albuns. Estou curioso. Os 'Favoritos' serão os meus adorados Animal Collective com a obra-prima absoluta que é 'Merryweather Post Pavillion'. Mas pode haver surpresas...
Na Uncut e na Mojo, as duas inglesas, não houve duvidas : foram eles!

Listas, Listinhas, Listagens, Recolhas...
Nos ultimos dias tem vindo a publico varias listas de melhores discos, não do ano, como seria de esperar, mas da decada. Escolha sempre dificil que de 2000 a este 2009 não foram poucas as obras apreciaveis. Tenho vindo a tomar notas mentais (à la Parker Lewis) sobre estas listas e apraz-me fazer um primeiro comentario.
